The provided table shows the answers to two different surveys which asked people about which communication skills were crucial in their occupations in 1997 and 2006.
Generally, most people in both 1997 and 2006 tended to choose to deal with people as their vital skill for external communication and selling a product or service was the least choices of all. Meanwhile, listening carefully to colleagues was obviously important for their internal communication skills and the lowest choice was to make speeches or presentations for both years.
To be more specific, for external communication skills, 60% of attendants decided tackling problems with people is more essential for them in 1997 and this rate gradually increased to 65% in 2006. While understanding their products and services achieved 35% of choices, giving advice and taking care of their customers saved 36% in 1997. However, the position of higher proportion obviously reversed in 2006 with the increase of votes for knowledge of the services and goods up to 41% and merely 2% lower for giving suggestions and care for customers. Selling skills were the least choice of all; only 24% of people chose this in 1997 and this rate decreased to 21% in the following period.
Internal communication skills had an increase in all indicators. Listening to colleagues was chosen the most of all with 38% in 1997 and 9% higher in 2006. Groups of skills including introducing and training people, analyzing problems with others and persuading or influencing others were relatively saved the rate of 25%, 20% and 16% in 1997 and all of these factors built up 5% to 6% for the later time. Finally, planning activities and making speeches or presentations were the group with the lowest choice. Although the rates were 14% for planning activities and 7% for talking skills in 1997, they slightly rose relatively to 15% and 11% for both of them.
To conclude, solving problems seemed to be more pivotal for everyone outside the company in two specific years while paying attention to what their co-workers talk about tended to be most considered when they were in offices.
WRITING TASK 2
Some people think the money spent in developing the technology for
space exploration is not justified. There are more beneficial ways to spend this
money. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Concerning the development of space exploration, more and more theories about space are realized and more investments in this field have been created. There is a popular belief that there is an enormous amount of money spent on those developments which is invalid, it can be used more beneficially in other ways. In my perspective, technology which is used for exploration in space might be necessary; however, I agree that there is a huge amount of problems that could be solved with that range of money.
Above all, it is obvious that not all nations could afford space exploring programs. A group of countries with strong economies such as the US and Russia has abilities to develop it. Other nations with gradual economies still pay attention to tackle their citizens’ problems about poverty and famine more than the space as the lives of humans are essential. Moreover, modern technology for this field does not spread out all around the world; merely a tiny group is able to use it. Therefore, it would be wasteful if a community invested in this aspect without modernization in their technique.
In addition, creating equipment for exploring could harm heavily to the environment and waste money on preparation. Most nations use nuclear energy, which needs billions of dollars to produce, to operate their spacecraft, and more creatures living near the lab could have radioactive contamination and also lose pay if there were a mistake while researching. Furthermore, a rocket launch site needs a large area to construct, and with a high population at the present, people ought to deforest to find suitable land to prepare, which reduces the number of trees in the world and causes a large number of disasters. That issue might cost tons of cash to solve.
In conclusion, the development of space exploration is crucial,on the contrary spending a large amount of bill on this would be wasted and I believe that the extent of money could be used more effectively for other purposes.
